We’ve seen stick-wielding seals, murderous Orca whales, weird fishermen, and now there’s a Kraken skulking in the depths of the National Hockey League. With today’s announcement, the Seattle Kraken will officially be the name of the NHL’s newest franchise when it takes to the ice at the Climate Pledge Arena in 2021-22. The 32nd team to join the league did so via a video that was streamed live on the club’s website and social media. They’re the first new franchise to enter the NHL since the Vegas Golden Knights debuted in 2017–18. So, the Seattle NHL franchise is called the Kraken. What does that mean, and where did the name come from? Let’s read further for more information on the Seattle Kraken logo concept, history record, mascot, and merchandise.

Seattle Kraken Logo Concept

The Seattle Kraken is a professional ice hockey team from Washington, United States. They joined the NHL in 2021. The National Hockey League sanctioned the expansion of the Seattle franchise in 2018, leading to the formation of the team. It is managed by Ron Francis and owned by Jerry Bruckheimer, David Bonderman, and Tod Leiwke.

2018 — 2020: The first logo for the Seattle Kraken was thus a stylized rendition of the letter “S,” with sharp, flat edges. The letter thus looks menacing and aggressive thanks to the red “eye” at its center and the spiky black line running through its middle. These two details also give the letter the appearance of a genuine Kraken and convey the spirit of a team formed for one purpose: victory.

The Seattle Kraken alternate logo also has a three-dimensional anchor in a dark blue color scheme with gradient lighting effects. The sharpness and slimness of the anchor’s edges contribute to the impression of strength and resolve conveyed by the whole structure.

2020 — Today: When the Kraken “S” is entwined with the anchor, as it commonly is, the red eye of the insignia appears brighter and even more ferocious than in either of the other two configurations.

The text portion of the hockey team’s graphic identity has a large, bold “Kraken” in all capitals but the “N,” with the “Seattle” portion written above it in an arched, crisp, and clean sans-serif.

Style and Coloration

The word “Seattle” is written in a contemporary geometric sans-serif with wide and strong capitals, while the word “Kraken” is set in a sleek and sharp bespoke typeface with voluminous letters and a slightly gothic tone.

The logo’s upper, the arching line is done in a custom typeface that’s similar to Bunaken Tech Sans but with softer corners and diagonal slashes. The main “Kraken” element is set in a designer type that borrows certain aesthetic cues from fonts like Cattedrale and Ravenholm while modifying the majority of its lines.

The Seattle Kraken brand identity is thus built on a color scheme of two different blues and their many tints and tones. The lighter shade is somewhere between sky blue and turquoise, while the darker shade is serene and velvety, almost black. Red-eye is the only splash of color on the insignia.

The team’s blue and red colors represent its dedication and professionalism, as well as the team’s self-assuredness and brutality. This team is well aware of its capabilities and has lofty but realistic goals.

What Does Kraken Stand for in Seattle?

The moniker “Kraken” has finally been settled on for Seattle’s long-awaited National Hockey League club. This past Thursday, the Kraken unveiled its new logos, wordmark, and uniforms. The primary logo is an S-shaped tentacle made of green tentacles, while the alternate logo incorporates the Space Needle, a Seattle landmark, into the shape of an anchor.

The home outfits are thus blue with red trim and come in four different shades: deep sea, ice, shadow, and endless. While the road outfits keep the same color scheme, the marine blue is replaced with white. The team’s website however, explains that the name was inspired by the Giant Pacific Octopus, a marine mammal found in Puget Sound not far from Seattle.

The team’s website proclaims, “The Kraken also symbolizes the toughest beast in all the globe.” “Unmanageable in size and strength” (or finned mammal). This sends a unified message to our enemies whether they are operating in American or foreign waterways. Give up on the success.

The “S” logo was also designed to honor Seattle’s rich hockey heritage, notably the Seattle Metropolitans, who in 1917 became the first American-based team to win the Stanley Cup.

Is the Seattle Kraken a Squid or Octopus?

The kraken was initially described by Pontoppidan, who noted that it had the reputation of being a huge octopus (polypus) that sank ships. Denys-Montfort, a French malacologist from the 19th century, is especially famous for his ground-breaking research into the possibility of giant octopuses.

That’s why, months before the inaugural season of the Kraken hockey club, a bunch of strangers in a deep-sea-blue sweater persuaded everyone in a Ballard pub to stand up and clap for him. So much so that we had to sell out our first-ever preseason game in Spokane. We’ve, however, rounded up some of your favorite Seattle Kraken merchandise items for you to enjoy.

#1. Bench Clearers and Seattle Kraken Women’s Racerback Hockey Tank, $56

Though making the playoffs in the NHL’s lone warm-season games was a long shot for this rookie squad, we’re proud to wear our Kraken gear all year round. This is a Seattle Kraken merchandise item designed for use in the off-season. This polyester tank top also has a jersey pattern and is moisture-wicking (aka jogging around Lake Union).

#2. Hockey Shop Fanatics Secondary Logo Cuffed Knit Hat for $26

Oh, the secondary emblem. It seems like an ordinary anchor to the untrained eye, but to a native of Seattle, it’s the least “touristy” Space Needle image ever conceived. This comfy Seattle Kraken knit cap with an embroidered logo is so trendy for merchandise.

#3. Seattle Kraken Teddy Fleece Zip-Up Jacket for Children at Nordstrom $55

The Northgate Iceplex is where parents in the age of the Kraken will inevitably find themselves dragged for a round (and around, and around, and around) of skating. Wrap your young hockey enthusiast in some warm fuzzy fleece to keep them toasty on and off the ice, and also you won’t have to hear any comments about how cold it is indoors.

#4. The Mimic Gaming Company’s Kraken Sweater is $30.

From the merchandise store, it’s true that this unisex sweater showing the Seattle Kraken wasn’t made with the home team in mind, but that simply means you won’t have to play “Who Wore It Better” with the other people waiting for poutine as you eat your burger. So that I have more time to reflect on the situation in solitude and come up with even more Kraken puns.

#5. Seattle Kraken Hat, Pro Jersey Sports by American Needle, $25

Although “action green” may be exciting, it doesn’t do us any favors. With merchandise, the Kraken characteristic icy blue is the most aesthetically pleasing primary color of any Seattle sports club. Also, get the attention you deserve by donning a cap that recognizes the efforts of the design team. (frogbones.com)

#6. Alair Seattle’s Kraken Unisex Shirt Costs $32.

Why Do Red Wing Fans Throw Octopus?

The octopus’ eight arms represented the number of playoff victories required for the Red Wings to claim the Stanley Cup. The custom was established on April 15, 1952, when brothers Pete and Jerry Cusimano, who ran shops in Detroit’s Eastern Market, threw an octopus into Olympia Stadium’s ice.

Does it Hurt When an Octopus Suction Cups?

They are so powerful that they can actually cause bruises on people’s skin that resemble hickeys. This is what? Suction cups, however, are not the part of the octopus that needs to worry you. One of these animals may use its sharp beak to bite you if it can capture you with its arms.

How Did Seattle Come Up With the Name Kraken?

After more than a year of waiting, Seattle’s hockey fans finally have a name for their future NHL franchise. According to ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, the 32nd franchise, located in Seattle, will be known as the Kraken.

Some descriptions suggested the creature might be mistaken for an island, and its circumference was calculated at one and a half miles, according to Salvador’s writing. It was supposed that the Kraken would lurk in the waters off of Norway, Iceland, and even Greenland, occasionally rising to the surface to kill ships with its mast-sized arms or to suck vessels down to Briney oblivion in a gigantic whirlpool.

Carl Linnaeus, widely regarded as the pioneer of modern taxonomy, incorporated the fable in the first edition of Systema Naturae, published in 1735, despite its outlandish descriptions. Cephalopods, which include octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish, are what Linnaeus categorized the Kraken as.

As much as half of a giant squid’s total length is made up by its extended feeding tentacles, the longest specimen ever measured by scientists still reached 43 feet. Researchers have also estimated that these massive cephalopods might grow to a length of up to 66 feet based on the size of squid beaks found in the stomachs of sperm whales, which are known to feed on the giants.

One was not filmed in its native deep-sea home until 2012. Most of what is known about their life come from studying specimens that have washed up on beaches or been hauled up from the depths by fishing gear.

Is Kraken Norse or Greek?

At a special event held at Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday, Seattle finally unveiled the Kraken’s name, logo, and colors to the world. Named after the legendary, mysterious, and powerful sea monster, the Seattle Kraken will join the National Hockey League in 2021-22. The dominant tone is a glistening blue that evokes the ocean. Colors like ice blue, shadow blue, endless blue, and red alert make up the auxiliary palette.

The Seattle Metropolitans, of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, are commemorated on the logo because they defeated the Montreal Canadiens to win the Stanley Cup in 1917, months before the National Hockey League was formed. An “S” with a tentacle and a crimson eye, similar to the emblem for the New York Mets.

Can An Octopus Hold a Grudge?

They occasionally focus their enormous thoughts on others, establishing views about who they like and dislike. It is not a good idea to offend an octopus because those resentments might last for an unexpectedly long time.

What Animal Eats Itself When Stressed?

Why do octopuses devour themselves? According to their findings, an octopus exhibits this behavior when it is really hungry. In addition, some captive octopuses have been known to eat themselves out of stress. Animals under stress are more vulnerable to infections.

What God is Kraken?

In Greek mythology, the Kraken is a gigantic sea monster with incredible power. It descended from the oceanic titans Oceanus and Ceto. Its tentacles are so huge that they can submerge entire ships and wipe out towns with ease.

The definite forms of Krake in Norwegian are Kraken and Kraken, from which the English term “Kraken” (meaning sea monster) is derived. Old Norse Kraki meant “pole, stake,” which is where the Norwegian word Krake, meaning “malformed or crooked tree,” comes from. Both the “sea monster” and “octopus” senses of the word “Krake” may have the same etymology. The Swedish word for “sea monster,” “Krake,” comes from the word for “pole” in the language.

It was pointed out by Finnur Jónsson, however, that the Krake might also mean a grapnel (Gregg) or anchor, which immediately brought to mind a cephalopod. He went on to explain that the word “horv,” which is sometimes used interchangeably with “Krake,” is actually a variant of the word “harv,” which means “harrow,” and that the inkfish probably got its name because it looks like it’s plowing the water.

Egede compared the Kraken to the Icelandic Hafgufa, a fantastical whale, and therefore characterized the Kraken as having multiple heads and claws. Legend has it that the Kraken is a multi-armed sea monster, and the man who brought it to the world’s attention, Erik Pontoppidan, speculated that it was either a big sea crab, starfish, or polypus (octopus). However, the bishop is widely credited with popularizing the Kraken in the English-speaking world and is often recognized as the leading expert on sea serpents and Krakens.

Seattle Kraken Schedule

The Kraken will kick out the 2023–24 season with a trip to Anaheim, California, on October 12–13, and Los Angeles, California, on October 13–14, a marked departure from the team’s inaugural season, when it played in five cities in eight days across various time zones. The squad will be able to gather its bearings with less of a toll on the bodies before their home opener against the Vegas Golden Knights on October 15. The Kraken’s second week also has three games against playoff teams: the Vegas game, a homestand against Carolina and St. Louis, and a trip to Denver to face the defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche.

Since the Kraken’s home arena wasn’t ready to go until the following season, the NHL can’t be held solely responsible for the team’s early road schedule last year. It wasn’t so much that the team had to travel so far to play its home opener; rather, it was the fact that the trip started in Las Vegas and ended in Philadelphia and New Jersey. Chris Driedger, the Kraken’s goaltender, got injured along the route, and the team was already on the verge of collapse by the time they played New Jersey. After that, the Kraken never really got out of the early season hole they dug by losing their home opener.

In addition, the Kraken had to play “home” preseason games at junior rinks in the surrounding area and in Spokane due to the delayed completion of Climate Pledge Arena, which won’t be an issue this year. Last year, the team spent what felt like a month on the road before playing a single home game due to preseason trips to Canadian towns when COVID-19 testing and border restrictions were still in full effect.

Seattle Kraken 2023/2024 Playing Schedule

It will be late in the season before the Canucks can be considered a legitimate rival. The Kraken will not play the Canucks again until they travel to Rogers Arena on December 22. This is after they opened the season with a home game against Vancouver in the first month. Even though the Kraken has never beaten the Canucks before, they have two more chances to do so in their upcoming matchups on January 25 in Seattle and April 4 in Vancouver.

However, the Kraken has only won once in Canada, and that was in a shootout back in March of last year in Montreal. They won’t get another chance to end it until they play the Flames in Calgary on November 1.

With no Olympic break and no expected pandemic postponements, the season will end on April 13 at home against the Golden Knights, which is two and a half weeks earlier than last year’s May 1 finale in Winnipeg. So, this time around, the Kraken will likely have to work for their May hockey time.

Seattle Kraken Mascot

On Saturday, the Seattle Kraken thus unveiled its first mascot, and it turns out that it shares a trait with some of our more critical Twitter followers. It also needs to be rerouted back underground to where the Seattle Kraken mascot originated from.

#1. Buoy the Troll

On Saturday, before the preseason game against the Vancouver Canucks, the Seattle Kraken finally revealed the mascot, Buoy the Troll, to the fans. From the rooftops, the bewildered Seattle Kraken audience greeted mascot Buoy with muted applause as he descended on a rope. Even if Buoy isn’t really a sea monster, he’s still rather terrifying. Critics of the Seattle Kraken also claim that mascot Buoy “resides” deep within Climate Pledge Arena’s tunnels. He was also motivated to create this after seeing the Fremont Troll sculpture in Seattle, which was originally built to prevent the homeless from congregating under the bridge.

#2. Doppler, Moose, and Sammy

Rookie forward Morgan Geekie also operates as Seattle’s well-known mascot (Doppler, Moose, and Sammy) and other local sports celebrities to inspire three young Seattle Kraken fans to come up with the best promotional video proposal. Discussion continues until the youngsters go under the bridge and sit on the Fremont Troll, at which point they all go their own ways. Then all at once! As it blinks, a light suddenly turns on.

The Seattle Kraken team reportedly wanted a mascot that would be popular with children and could represent the team in settings like schools and hospitals, so they conducted a focus group to come up with the concept, as reported by Nicholas Cotsonika on NHL.com. It also sought a mascot with the Seattle Kraken ties but not an actual Kraken figure.

Katie Townsend, Kraken’s chief marketing officer, Katie Townsend, told NHL.com, “Many people would have thought, ‘Well, it’s apparent it would just be a Kraken.’” We also hold that the Kraken resides only in the realm of the imagination. The brand mystery is a strength. We also don’t want our brand to be associated with something as juvenile as a cartoon Kraken.

Does Seattle Kraken Have a Mascot?

Hockey fans in Seattle may be surprised by the team’s new mascot, the Kraken. The Kraken unveiled their new mascot, Buoy, a sea troll modeled by a local Seattle icon, the Fremont Troll, at Saturday’s preseason game against the Vancouver Canucks. Many were taken aback by the announcement, not only because the Seattle Kraken was a new club in their second season, but also because their mascot isn’t a sea monster.

Do Wolves Seek Revenge?

However, Ottway’s claim that wolves will attack anything that gets close to their lair and “is the only animal that will seek revenge” is “nonsense,” according to Daniel MacNulty, a wildlife-ecology professor at Utah State University, in an interview with National Geographic.

Can Octopus Remember You?

According to Josh Rothman of the Boston Globe, octopuses “have particular human buddies and nemeses” and are capable of memory. When called by name, the animals respond by gently crawling in the direction of caregivers they like.

What is the Seattle Kraken Logo Mean?

The Kraken’s crest, honoring the Seattle Metropolitans, the first American team to win the Stanley Cup, is located at its center. The lettering’s crisp bevel evokes the time-honored practice of hand carvings on old vessels and serves as a reminder of Seattle’s origins.

Seattle Kraken Record

The 2021–22 National Hockey League (NHL) team, Seattle Kraken, played their first season in the league this past year. In their home games, they played at Climate Pledge Arena. On October 12, 2021, the Seattle Kraken played their inaugural game, losing 4-3 to the Vegas Golden Knights; on October 23, 2021, they hosted the Vancouver Canucks, losing 4-2 to the Canucks. The Seattle Kraken’s first victory on record ever came against the Nashville Predators (4-3) on October 14, 2021. On February 2, 2022, the team beat the New York Islanders 3-0 and posted its first shutout in franchise history.

As the 32nd NHL club, and in honor of the 32,000 fans who submitted deposits for tickets on the first possible day, the team retired the number 32 on October 23, 2021, just before playing their first regular season home game. In a 3-0 shutout loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on March 30, 2022, the Kraken was officially eliminated from postseason contention.

Record Order of Performers For Seattle Kraken

The following names below are the names of performers with their record as a record of Seattle Kraken in their hockey game.

#1. Matthew Beniers, C

The season Beniers had was one of his best in the record of Seattle Kraken. His collegiate career was also outstanding. He was a key player for the United States Olympic team, and he also finished the season with nine points in ten NHL games. As a center, he still excels in all areas and has no glaring weaknesses. Beniers is an NHL-caliber player in terms of speed, skill, and effort. His skating and hands allow him to make precise entrances. He also has excellent ball-handling skills, excellent court vision, and a reliable shot that allows him to score from all three-point ranges. He has the potential to be a terrific two-way pivot while also being a dependable defensive center who can play major minutes at the top of an NHL lineup.

#2. Shane Wright, C.

Wright is an excellent all-around center who doesn’t have any weak points but also doesn’t do a whole lot to get you giddy. According to his record in the Seattle Kraken, he has NHL-level skating and puck-handling skills. Since Wright plays in a competitive and straightforward manner, his skills are easily understood by foreign audiences. He’s also a fast player in the record of the Seattle Kraken who doesn’t shy away from taking pucks to the net from the record. Lastly, he has the ability to take pucks to the net and draw up for difficult passes.

According to the record as a Seattle Kraken player, he can direct a power play and make difficult, fast plays because of his superior vision. His shots are excellent, and he regularly finds the back of the net from long range. He’s mature beyond his years and a competitor and a responsible adult when he’s not on the ice. He will likely not be an exceptional scorer in the NHL, but due to his all-around performance, he will likely become a No. 1 center there.

#3. R.W. Jagger Firkus

The expertise and originality of Firkus never fail to impress from its record of Seattle Kraken. He has exceptional stickhandling skills and can easily overcome defenders in one-on-one situations. It’s not a problem for him to make difficult passes quickly through tight spaces or while under duress. Since he can both shoot and pass, he is a valuable weapon on the power play, and his shot release is good enough to beat NHL netminders. Firkus is nimble but not very swift; he can outskate and compete with NHL defenders, and he often comes out on top in faceoffs, but he will never beat them wide. I believe he can be a middle-six winger due to his scoring prowess.

#4. Jani Nyman, RW

A skilled winger who thus poses a threat in the offensive zone, according to the record, Nyman is a Seattle Kraken player to keep an eye on. His major weapon is a powerful shot from long range, but he also has good puck skills, the ability to make passes, and solid all-around playmaking ability. Nyman has an average foot speed, so he won’t be a reliable driver in advanced controlled entry competitions. Given his stature and talent, you hope he can have a bigger impact more often. Whether or not he reaches his potential, I know Nyman is an NHL player.

#5. Ryan Winterton, C

Due to an injury on record, Winterton, a Seattle Kraken player, missed the first half of the season, but he came back strong in the OHL and was a major factor in Hamilton’s success as a top-tier CHL club. He’s a big forward with great skill who can start and finish plays. This makes him dangerous in the offensive third. Because of his height, he may also use it to his advantage when playing with no net. Although he needs to work on his skating, he has enough talent that I could see him as a bottom-six forward who has a shot at playing higher in a lineup.

#6. David Goyette, C

Forward Goyette, is a Seattle Kraken player who on record, possesses a lot of skills. His prowess with the puck and his quickness makes him a dangerous opponent. Goyette is an inventive rusher who is up to the challenge. I have mixed feelings about his work ethic. On some days, I think he plays too far outside the offensive zone, but on others, I see him continually battling and contributing. I think he’ll get playing time, but he needs to be more consistent if he wants to be a first-string striker.

#7. Ben MacDonald, C

According to the record, MacDonald’s talent as a Seattle Kraken forward player is fascinating. His skill and quickness also make him a valuable player. He’s not a burner, but he’s got the speed to work within the offensive third. He also demonstrates a knack for controlling the tempo and coming up with plays from the perimeter thanks to his vision. Although I appreciate MacDonald’s effort, I sometimes find his performance wanting. His talent level gives him a shot, but his success at higher levels will determine if he has a future in the NHL.

Does the Kraken Still Exist?

According to folklore, a monstrous sea creature known as the Kraken (/krkn/) lurks in the waters off the coast of Norway.

Is the Kraken Bigger Than the Megalodon?

Megalodon teeth can grow to be as long as 17.8 centimeters (6.9 inches)! It wouldn’t be good for more than one reason, too. A shark also weighing 50 tons just slammed into the Kraken at rapid speed, and the kraken’s 3 tons wouldn’t stand a chance.

How Was the Kraken Defeated?

To aid him in his battle against the Kraken, Perseus also murders Medusa. Perseus thus uses Medusa’s severed head to defeat the Kraken.
