Currently, the average annual salary for a computer engineer is $121,515 a year, according to ZipRecruiter.

According to Glassdoor, a computer engineer’s estimated average salary is $83,798 per year. This figure includes a base yearly salary of $74,724 per year and $9,073 in additional annual pay. Additional pay insights may include profit-sharing, commissions, or bonuses. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) predicts that computer engineering opportunities will increase by 5% between 2021 and 2031.

This projection is in line with the average growth for all occupations.

While there are annual salaries as high as $137,500 and as low as $48,500, the majority of computer engineer salaries currently range between $111,500 (25th percentile) to $131,500 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $137,000 annually across the United States. The average salary range for a computer engineer does not vary by much (about $20,000).

This suggests that regardless of location, there are not many opportunities for increased pay or advancement, even with several years of experience.

If your goal is to work for one of the major tech companies as a computer engineer, you can expect good working conditions. Typically these corporations have higher earnings and benefits that a small company might not be able to offer.
