If you’ve been working for quite a while, you’ve probably had to travel for work at least once in your career – and if not, the chances are that you will at some point in the future.
Sometimes, these work trips take just a few hours or a day, meaning you won’t need to adjust to a whole new routine. Other times, though, you may need to go on a longer business trip that requires you to stay in one place for a while. If that’s the case, you need to make sure that you get the right business accommodation. This post is here to help by sharing a few things you need to look for in business accommodation.
Look for a furnished short-term option
Quite often, those traveling for business for a short trip – such as a weekend – will book into a hotel. However, if you are on a longer business trip that lasts weeks or even months, opting for an apartment may be a more budget-friendly option.
Of course, you need to make sure that the apartment you pick is available for short-term rental, and also that it is furnished. Luckily, you can easily find furnished apartments for rent in Toronto, so this shouldn’t be an issue.
Location
If you need to be in the vicinity of a specific area during your business trip, this is something else to keep in mind. For example, you may be visiting another branch of your business, or you may be traveling to meet with a specific client. Either way, you need to make sure that the business accommodation you opt for is in a location that allows you easy access to where you need to be. Since you may have to walk from your accommodation to wherever else you need to be, we’d advise packing at least one pair of good walking shoes for the trip.
The cost
Many businesses will cover the cost of their employees’ business accommodation, so if that’s the way it works for you, you don’t need to worry about the price of where you stay.
That being said, in some situations, you may still be required to pay for your own accommodation, in which case, you need to make sure that you pick an accommodation option you can afford. If the cost will be coming out of your personal budget, it’s best to opt for a cheaper accommodation option.
The facilities
Even though you will be on a business trip, you should still make the most of it, especially if you will have some free time. Therefore, it can be a good idea to book into a hotel or other accommodation option that offers fun facilities such as a spa or a pool, so that you can enjoy yourself whenever you’re not working.
Of course, you may also require certain work amenities or facilities, such as a board room for meetings, or accommodation that offers Wi-Fi. Keep in mind that you always need to stay safe when using public Wi-Fi.
