As long as you submit your application before your card’s expiration date, the CBP will allow you to use your card for the next six months while you wait for approval. Once your card has been approved, it will usually be delivered to you within one to two weeks, if not sooner.
However, there is a new development as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a recent update, Global Entry members now have a 24-month or 2-year grace period if they process renewal applications before their membership expires. Yes, you can still travel internationally while benefiting from Global Entry and TSA pre-Check for domestic travel. But this only applies if you applied for a renewal before your membership’s expiration date.
