How To Change Apple Watch Wallpaper: A Step-by-Step Guide

#1. Make Sure Your Apple Watch Is Connected to Your iPhone

To change the wallpaper on your Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your paired iPhone.

Ensure your iPhone and Apple Watch are successfully paired before changing the wallpaper on the Apple Watch. To confirm, open the “Watch” app on your iPhone, and you should see information about your Apple Watch, such as the model and watch face, displayed on the screen.

#2. Open Your iPhone’s Watch App

The Watch app on your iPhone is the central location for customizing and managing your Apple Watch settings.

On your iPhone, look for the Watch app icon, which has a black background with a white watch icon, and tap it to open the app.

To personalize your Apple Watch, go to the “Face Gallery” tab and browse and select from the various watch face designs.

There are several menu options at the bottom of the screen in the Watch app. Tap the “Face Gallery” option, which is usually in the center of the menu.

#4. Look Through Watch Face Designs and Change the Background

Apple Watch has a plethora of watch face designs, some of which allow you to change the default background or use your own photos.

Scroll through the available watch face designs and select one to use as your new wallpaper. Some designs, such as “Photo” or “Kaleidoscope,” allow you to set your watch background to a photo or image from your iPhone’s albums. Choose your preferred background or photo, and then continue to customize the rest of the watch face as desired.

#5. Install the Chosen Watch Face on Your Apple Watch

When you add a new watch face to your Apple Watch, the customized wallpaper becomes available on your device.

Scroll down and tap the “Add” button once you’ve selected and customized the watch face. The new watch face design will be sent to your Apple Watch.

#6. Activate Your Newly Added Watch Face

You must still activate the new watch face with the custom wallpaper on your Apple Watch after adding it.

Press and hold the watch screen on your Apple Watch until your watch faces appear. Swipe left or right to cycle through your watch faces. Tap on the new watch face with your custom wallpaper to make it your active wallpaper.

By following these steps, you can easily change the wallpaper on your Apple Watch and personalize it to your liking.

Personalizing Your Apple Watch Background

If you want something a little different on your Apple Watch face, you can quickly switch to one of Apple’s pre-designed options. If you want something a little more personalized, you can use your photos to make an Apple Watch background that reflects your personality.

Setting up a display of your favorite images is the simplest way to use your photos as your Apple Watch background. To do so, you must first pick your favorite photos in the Photos app so that they appear on your Apple Watch.

  • Open the Photos app on your iPhone.
  • Tap a photo to add it to your Favorites.
  • To favorite a photo, tap the heart icon on the photo page. You can do this as many times as you want.

How to Set Up Apple Watch Faces

After you’ve chosen which photos to share with your Apple Watch, you can use the iPhone’s Watch App to create a watch face that displays those images.

  • On your iPhone, launch the Watch app.
  • At the bottom of the screen, tap Face Gallery.
  • Scroll down to Photos. This watch face will show specific photos on your Watch. If you added more than one photo, the watch face would cycle through them each time you raised it.
  • Scroll down to Content on the Photos screen and select Album to ensure that the photos are from the Favorites album.
    • You can also tap Photos and select the photos you want to display on your Watch, or you can select Dynamic to display photos from your recent Memories.
  • Scroll down to Time Position and choose whether you want the time to appear at the top or bottom of the page.
    • Some things you simply cannot change. For example, you can’t change the color of a photo used as a watch background because the photos automatically color the watch’s face.
  • Then, select the complications you want to display Above Time and Below Time.
  • When you’re finished, tap Add, and the watch face will be added to your Apple Watch and automatically synced.

On the Apple Watch

  • Press and hold the current face on your Apple Watch.
  • Swipe right or left or use the Digital Crown to navigate to the desired face. Move all the way to the right and tap New to create a new Watch face.
  • When you reach the desired face, tap to select it.
