A Quick Look at the iPhone 15

Following the lead of the iPhone 14 and previous years, Apple has unveiled four new iPhone 15 models.

The iPhone 15 is the first model, followed by the iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Except for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which now starts at a higher $1,200 price but has 256GB of storage in the base version, all start at the same price and have the same storage options. The rest of the lineup begins with 128GB of storage as the starting point.

There are two compact-ish iPhones with 6.1-inch screens (the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro) and two larger ones (the Plus and Pro Max) with 6.7-inch displays among these four.

The iPhone 15, which starts at $800 and has a 6.1-inch display and two rear cameras, is the most affordable of the new releases. Then there’s the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, which starts at $900 and has a larger battery but only two cameras.

Then there are the more expensive Pro models, which now have new features to differentiate them even more from the non-Pro models. The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max have the next-generation A17 Pro chip, which has many improvements. The smaller 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro retains the familiar triple rear camera setup, while the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max is the first iPhone to feature a folded camera with 5X native zoom, which is significantly longer than the current 3X.

Here is a rundown of the top ten new iPhone 15 features:

  • A USB-C port has replaced Lightning.
  • Dynamic Island is used in all four models.
  • The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus use an older A16 chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max use a newer A17 chip. Pro models use titanium rather than stainless steel, which reduces weight.
  • The mute switch on iPhone 15 Pro models has been replaced by a new programmable action button.
  • The battery size is slightly larger.
  • Only the iPhone 15 Pro Max model receives a new periscope camera with a greater zoom range.
  • Regular iPhone 15 models get a 48MP main camera upgrade.

What Colors Are Available for the iPhone 15?

All of the new iPhone 15 colour options are listed below:

  • Black
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Yellow
  • Pink

Here are the new color options for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max:

  • Titanium (lighter gray) natural
  • Titanium Blue
  • Titanium White
  • Titanium Noir

What Is the Battery Capacity of the iPhone 15?

Compared to previous iPhone 14-generation models, all four iPhone 15 models have slightly larger battery sizes.

However, the difference is negligible, ranging between 1% and 2% larger sizes.

The battery size of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, for example, is 4,422 mAh, which is only 2% larger than the 4,323 mAh battery in the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Compared to the 15 Pro Max, the iPhone 15 Plus has a slightly smaller 4,383mAh battery.

The iPhone 15 Pro has a 3,274mAh battery cell, slightly improving over the previous generation.

The battery capacity on the iPhone 15 is 3,349 mAh, compared to 3,279 mAh on the iPhone 14.

According to Apple’s official battery life estimates, the iPhone 15 series’ battery life has not changed compared to the iPhone 14 family.

Officially, all four iPhone 15 models support 20W charging speeds, but the Pro models can charge up to 25 watts. All four models also support MagSafe and Qi wireless charging, but remember that wireless charging is slower than wired charging.

Which iPhone 15 Accessories Are the Best?

Apple and many other third-party companies sell iPhone 15 cases and other accessories.

The big news in the world of Apple accessories is that the iPhone 15 series no longer has a leather case option. The leather is being phased out in favor of a new, more environmentally friendly “FineWoven” material. It has a different feel than leather and a bit of a textile feel to it, but initial reviews are negative because it scratches easily and those scratch marks remain very visible after that. This new material would probably be fine in a low-cost case, but not so much in a premium, $60 case.

Of course, third-party vendors will continue to offer leather cases and other accessories, and many people will want to purchase a screen protector.

What Are the Most Affordable iPhone 15 Deals?

Several iPhone 15 deals are already available. Some require you to trade in an eligible device to receive a discount, and there are other offers as well.

AT&T will deduct up to $1,000 from the price of a new iPhone 15 Pro Max with a trade-in, while Verizon will deduct up to $800. T-Mobile offers similar trade-in deals with discounts of up to $1,000.

Should I purchase the iPhone 15?

If you want the most recent and greatest iPhone, you should get the iPhone 15. The Pro models include 120Hz ProMotion as well as a telephoto camera, ProRAW and ProRes support, faster USB 3 data transfers, and a cool new Action Button. The regular models, on the other hand, are excellent value and have received one of the most significant upgrades ever for a non-Pro model with that new 48MP main camera sensor, a Dynamic Island and a USB-C port.

If you don’t care about extreme performance or cameras, you shouldn’t get the iPhone 15. The battery life and charging speeds have remained unchanged, and the phones still resemble previous generations.
