How To Change Screen Saver on iPhone

Apple introduced some significant changes to the Lock Screen experience with the release of iOS 16, including the ability for users to make their iPhone screen saver shuffle between a pre-selected set of photos with a simple tap of the screen or change it seamlessly.

Basically, you can include different categories of photos to tap through when using the Photo Shuffle option, such as people, pets, nature, and cities. Alternatively, you can manually select which photos you want to include in the shuffle.

Let’s go over the different methods involved when you need to change your screen saver on your iPhone.

  • Wake up your iPhone and unlock it with Face ID or Touch ID, then press and hold the Lock Screen until the wallpaper gallery appears.
  • In the bottom-right corner of the screen, tap the circular blue + button.
  • In the top row of the “Add New Wallpaper” menu, select Photo Shuffle.
  • Check or uncheck the photos you want to include/exclude from the shuffle in your library.
  • Under Shuffle Frequency, click on “On Tap.”

If you decide not to include a certain set of photos (for example, pets), tap the Shuffle Categories button in the bottom-left corner and uncheck the ones you want to exclude. Swipe left and right to see previews of filters that can be applied to your photos.

When you’re satisfied with your new shuffle Lock Screen, tap Add in the upper-right corner, then choose Set as Wallpaper Pair or Customize Home Screen. If you selected the first option, simply tap the Lock Screen you just created to activate it. If you choose the latter, you’ll be taken to a set of tools that will allow you to change the color and gradient of your Home Screen wallpaper independently or even select a different image entirely. It’s worth noting that in our previous example, we only changed the home screen wallpaper. If you want to be more efficient, you can change the lock screen wallpaper at the same time.

To change the lock screen wallpaper on an iPhone, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > Wallpaper and then tap the Customize button under the Lock Screen.
  • Then, in the lower-left corner, tap the Photos button and select an image from your photo library.
  • Then, in the top-right corner of the screen, tap the Done button and enjoy your new wallpapers.

Of course, you might want to customize the lock Screen widgets while you’re there. Changing your widgets or the information they contain can have a significant impact on the overall appearance of your lock Screen.
