If you hire people to work for you, you need to compensate them. So, you set a salary or an hourly rate. But you could also pay your workers in other ways. And if you do, you’ll need to know if your other earnings count as compensation. Why? Putting together your pay package starts with knowing what compensation is. Compensation is the total amount of money a worker gets for their work. This includes a regular salary, like an hourly wage or yearly pay.
