Standard & Poor\u2019s has stringent criteria for inclusion in its flagship index, and companies are admitted every quarter if they meet the requirements. Following the failure of Silicon Valley Bank in March 2023, S&P Dow Jones Indices announced that medical device company Insulet (PODD) would replace SVB Financial Group in the S&P 500.
