There are a ton of different music streaming services out there, so it’s possible you’ve considered trying something new. Perhaps your favorite band is only available on one service, or perhaps another has more useful tools. You could spend years and a lot of willpower recreating all of your carefully curated playlists from scratch, but that’s not an option if you don’t want to lose them. You could also start fresh with a brand-new service and a brand-new you. However, if you’re like the vast majority of people, you’ll want to find an automatic way to transfer your playlists. Here’s how to transfer your Spotify playlists into Apple Music, as well as how to import playlists from a wide variety of other services.

Spotify has a significant advantage over Apple Music: It provides a free tier of service that allows you to stream any music with commercial interruption.

Aside from that, Apple has some compelling advantages. Apple Music, for example, includes a high-quality lossless audio option that is better for audiophiles than Spotify. If you own an Apple smart speaker, such as the HomePod mini, Apple Music is the obvious streaming service to use because it is fully integrated with Siri’s voice commands; Spotify is not.

It’s also an important part of the Apple ecosystem; if you subscribe to Apple One, you get Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+, and Apple Music all for one low monthly fee. If you have that, you probably don’t need to pay for or use Spotify anymore.

To switch between streaming services, first sign up for an Apple Music subscription, then transfer your playlists if desired, and finally cancel your Spotify subscription.

To sign up for Apple Music, follow these steps:

Streaming apps do not directly allow you to transfer playlists, but services exist to assist you in doing so.

Because playlist transferring isn’t a built-in or automatic feature on Apple Music, you’ll need to choose a third-party service to use first. There are a wide range of options to pick from, and we will go over a few. These services ask you for the source you want to transfer from, which playlists you want to transfer, and where you want them to go.

They work by scanning the metadata from the tracks in your playlists and matching it to music in the streaming service’s database. As a result, errors can occur, particularly with more obscure artists who have little or incorrect metadata. However, this is uncommon, and you can manually resolve these issues when they arise.

Transferring Spotify playlists to Apple Music, or between any two services, requires the transferring service to have access to both of your music accounts, which can be problematic if you never share your passwords.

Fortunately, these third parties only have access to limited information, and you can revoke permission at any time after using them by visiting their respective settings pages. Third-party permissions can also be revoked through the settings menu of any streaming service. You’ll have to use your browser to access permissions on Spotify because you can’t access them through the app.

The most common question when switching from Spotify to Apple Music is whether you can import your existing Spotify playlists so you don’t have to rebuild them from scratch in Apple Music. Fortunately, you can easily do that with these third-party apps. Here are the most popular options:

SongShift allows you to easily transfer your playlists to Apple Music, but it is only available for the iPhone. If you have an Android device, instead look at the Free Your Music section below.

The Spotify playlist should now be visible in Apple Music.

There is no longer a free version of SongShift as of July 2020, but there are three different Pro subscription options. Subscriptions are $5 per month or $20 per year. There’s also a $40 one-time lifetime subscription. You can transfer an unlimited number of songs and playlists with each Pro subscription.

Quick tip: SongShift has many other features, such as the ability to select multiple playlists at once, but these require in-app paid upgrades.
#2. Free Your Music

Another option for transferring playlists from Spotify to Apple Music is Free Your Music, which is available for both iOS and Android. All of its features, including the ability to transfer multiple playlists at once, are also free.

- Get/ Download Your “Free Your Music”

- On the Select Source page, tap Spotify and then log in, granting the app access to your account.

- Tap Apple Music on the Select Destination page.

- Choose the playlists you want to transfer and then press the Begin transfer button.

The songs will be transferred in a few moments. You can check if all of the songs were successfully transferred by tapping the playlist on the Your Transfers page, or you can go directly to Apple Music.

Free Your Music’s free version allows you to carry up to 100 songs and one playlist. The premium version, which costs $9.89, lets you transfer an unlimited number of songs and playlists.

#3. Soundiiz

- Launch the web app.

- Select the music service from which you are switching (Spotify).

- Select Soundiiz as your source service.

- Select the playlists and songs you want to transfer.

- Select the music service you want to use (Apple Music).

Soundiiz has free and premium plans, but only the premium plan allows you to convert playlists from one platform to another. It costs $4.50 per month or $36 per year; if you only want to transfer once, you can cancel after one month. You can import playlists from saved files on your computer, but not from other music services, in the free version.

Is Spotify better than Apple Music?

Apple Music includes music videos, broadcast radio, and shows in addition to having the highest possible sound quality and the most exclusive features. Spotify is a music streaming service that also offers audiobooks and podcasts, has a free tier of service, and is compatible with multiple platforms.

How much is Apple Music vs Spotify?

Spotify’s standard plan costs $9.99 per month, while Apple Music’s standard plan costs $10.99 per month.

However, if you sign up for Apple’s annual plan, you can take advantage of a special rate that costs only $9.09 per month and amounts to a savings of $109 per year. You are able to test out either service at no cost with a free trial period of one month.

Can you transfer a Spotify playlist to another account?

Choose the Invite Collaborators option from the context menu that appears when you right-click a playlist you want to share between Spotify accounts.

Alternatively, you can open the playlist and invite collaborators by selecting the person icon or the three dots from the menu that appears. The link to the playlist will be copied as you proceed. Copy the link, then paste it into your new account after you have logged in.
