If you need to turn off the sound on your Apple Watch, the simple process in this article will help get it done effortlessly. It can be completed in just two steps.

First, activate your watch’s screen by gliding your finger upwards from the bottom of the watch face. This action will summon the Control Center.

Locate and tap the ‘Silent Mode’ icon, a bell-shaped button, in the Control Center.

This effectively switches your Apple Watch into Silent Mode, muting all sounds while allowing haptic (vibration) notifications for a seamless, non-disruptive user experience.

Our guide continues below with more information on turning off the sound on an Apple Watch and other options.

The steps in this article are still applicable to newer Apple Watch models, such as the Apple Watch Series 7, as well as newer WatchOS versions, such as 9.4.

You have two options for completing this task directly from the watch. We’ll show you the quickest method first, followed by the slower method.

This is the quickest method and how I turn off the sound on my Apple Watch.

Swiping up from the bottom of the screen can be difficult to remember, so you might want to try the second method if you think the Settings app will be easier to remember.

You will be able to use this method to silence Apple Watch whenever you are in a situation where you do not want the watch to make any noise.

You can either do it and leave it if you never want to hear sounds from the watch, or you can quickly switch the sound on and off as needed now that you know how to turn sound off on Apple Watch.

You can also use the crown on the side of the watch to adjust the volume if you tap the slider bar.

Your watch has a feature called “Haptic Alerts” that vibrates to notify you that you have received a notification.

It’s worth noting that there are options in this section if you want to use the default haptic alert vibration or make it more noticeable.

Once you’ve decided whether or not to keep your device’s haptic vibration settings enabled, you may want to adjust this setting for the crown as well.

This setting is only available on Apple Watch models from series four and up, so if you have an older Apple Watch model, you may not see it.

There is one more haptic feature on the watch that you may or may not want to keep using.

This setting is known as “Haptic Chimes,” and it can be configured to notify you of different time intervals via sound and vibration.

You can change this setting by following the steps below.

If you keep the Haptic Chimes turned on, you can also change the schedule to control how frequently they play and the tone that plays at each interval.

You must rest your hand on the watch face for three seconds for this to activate, after which you will feel a vibration to let you know you were successful.

Muting your Apple Watch will only silence the device’s sounds. Here’s how to go about it.

If you forget to mute or otherwise silence notifications beforehand, you can silence an incoming alert or notification using the Cover to Mute feature.

Another way to silence your Apple Watch is to use Theater Mode. When Theater Mode is enabled, Silent Mode is activated, and the Wake Screen on Wrist Raise feature is temporarily disabled.

There are times when Siri on your Apple Watch simply refuses to be quiet and randomly appears on your Apple Watch with the smallest sounds, which can quickly become annoying. Siri frequently behaves in this manner shortly after updating the watchOS version. And, of course, “Hey Siri” will work even if you enable silent mode on your Apple Watch. So, here’s how you can silence Siri on your Apple Watch:

To manually access Siri on your Apple Watch, you must now press the Digital Crown.

If you don’t want your Apple Watch to make any noises and only receive vibration or haptic alerts, you can put it in silent mode.

Swiping up from the bottom of the screen and tapping the bell icon will take you to the Apple Watch Silent Mode toggle. When the bell icon is red with a slash through it, Silent Mode is enabled.

By pressing the digital crown, opening the Settings app (the gear icon), and then tapping the Sounds & Haptics option, you can ensure that haptic alerts are enabled. There, you can enable or disable Haptic Alerts.

If you aren’t hearing any sounds, the mute setting is most likely turned on. Swiping up from the bottom of the screen and tapping the bell icon will quickly silence or unmute the watch.

You can also change the watch’s sound settings by pressing the crown button, going to the Settings app, and then selecting Sounds & Haptics.

Tap Sound Options to enable various settings that affect the device’s noises and haptics, such as the crown haptics that play when you spin the dial.

If you have your sounds turned on, another place to look is the Notifications menu in the Settings app. You can then choose Messages to see if the notifications are mirrored from your phone or if you are using custom watch settings.

To activate the Apple Watch Do Not Disturb mode, swipe up from the bottom of the screen, then tap the half moon icon, and then select the Do Not Disturb option.

Do Not Disturb mode can also be enabled and configured for your watch by pressing the digital crown on the side of the watch, tapping the gear icon, selecting the Focus option, and then selecting Do Not Disturb.

You will then be able to create a new Do Not Disturb profile in which you can specify which types of notifications you want to receive when the mode is activated.

This icon appears because the watch’s “Do Not Disturb” mode is enabled.

You can disable it by swiping up from the bottom of the screen to open your watch’s Control Center, then scrolling down and tapping on the crescent moon icon.

If you’ve been navigating through the Apple Watch settings and come across the Sounds & Haptics menu, you’ve probably noticed the “Silent Mode” toggle switch.

You’ve probably noticed that your Apple Watch can make sounds when you receive notifications or when certain events occur.

You can prevent the watch from making any sounds other than alarms or timers that go off while the watch is charging by selecting Silent Mode from the Settings > Sounds & Haptics menu.

The Apple Watch also has a “Theater Mode” setting, which is similar to the device’s silent mode.

However, Theater Mode will not only silence the device’s audio but will also turn off the screen.

This setting is intended for use in a theater where you want to reduce the amount of sound and light produced.

Swipe up from the bottom of the watch face and tap the button with two masks to enable or disable Apple Watch Theater Mode.
