It can be confusing to keep track of your various social media and other account logins across multiple devices. Logging out of social media sites like Facebook when you’re done using them helps prevent hackers from gaining access to your account when you’re using a shared computer.

If you have logged into Facebook from a device that you no longer have access to, but forgot to log out, you can do so from your account settings.

Here’s how to log out of Facebook on any device, one at a time or all at once, whether it’s a desktop computer, a mobile phone, or a tablet.

If you’re using Facebook in the browser on your phone rather than the app, look for the three parallel lines icon in the top right corner of your screen. As before, scroll to the bottom and tap “Log Out.” When you log out, a prompt will appear asking if you want the browser to save your login information. To finish the process, select “Save and Log Out” or “Don’t Save and Log Out.”

The process for signing out of a Facebook account on the iPhone is the same as it is on the Android app, with the only difference being the location of the menu option. To sign out of your Facebook account on an iPhone, press the “Menu” button in the bottom navigation bar and then select “Log out” at the bottom of the page.

Here’s how to log out of your app using the settings:

To log out, iOS users must use the official Facebook app. Users of Android devices can do the same.

These steps are very similar to those required to use the Facebook mobile app.

While reviewing your logged sessions, if you notice an unusual location or login time, you can easily report it and then log out. Simply follow the steps below to log out of all sessions. When you reach the list of sessions, tap or click on the three dots next to the entry and choose Report or Log Off.

To exit the Facebook Messenger app, navigate to Menu > Settings > Password and Security, tap the three dots beside your device, and then select Log Out.

Hover over your Profile icon and select Log Out, then Add Account to switch accounts on Facebook. Tap Menu > Log Out > Log into another account in the app.

Go to the Facebook Find Your Account page and enter your information to recover your Facebook password. Select the method for receiving the password reset code and click Continue.

Hover over your Profile icon and select Settings & Privacy > Settings > Facebook Information to delete your Facebook account. Select View > Delete My Account > Continue to Account Deletion next to Deactivation and Deletion. You can also deactivate your Facebook account temporarily.

When you sign in from an unknown device or location, Facebook sends you a login notification. Set up two-factor authentication on Facebook to improve the security of your account.

Due to server issues, Facebook occasionally logs you out of your account. When you clear browser cookies, you may also notice that your Facebook account is signed out.

If you clear your browser cookies or your session expires, Facebook may log you out. Browser cache issues can also cause you to be signed out of your Facebook account.
